For the first time in three years, JCW Racing took to a hard and slick Path Valley Speedway this past Saturday, ending the night with a decent finish but looking to improve in future events at the ¼ mile clay oval.
With 20 305 winged sprints present for action, team owner and driver Jake Waters began the night by pulling pill No. 12. Starting in the third position in the heat, Waters and the No. 10 was too loose, causing the car to slip and catch the wall in turn two. Ultimately, the team finished fifth in the heat race.
After making needed adjustments and repairs, the car improved significantly at the start the feature. Due to misfortune and a yellow flag, Waters got caught up behind a car that was too challenging to pass, while battling for ninth position. The driver felt the car was not aggressive enough to “push the issue,” and was passed late in the race. JCW Racing settled for an 11th place finish as the checkers fell.
“Running at Path Valley Saturday night was very challenging and narrow to pass. I strongly feel we had a much stronger car than what our finishing position shows. We learned quite a bit during the heat and feature races, and plan to use information and experience gained to improve our in next appearance at the track.” – Jake Waters
After a brief break, JCW Racing returns home to Port Royal Speedway Saturday, August 1, for Slivinski Law Offices Salute to the Military Night. On track action begins at 7:00 p.m.
