JCW Racing and team owner/driver Jake Waters didn’t let a rough start to the night detour them, pressing on to finish with another Top 10 at the team’s home track, Port Royal Speedway. Waters, who was still recovering from illness during the week prior, joined 22 other cars in pursuit of the checkered flag this past Saturday night during the track’s Race to Cure Cancer Night. The driver reported that the track was tacky, different from the previous week’s race, and that JCW Racing’s no. 10 machine was set up too tight for the night. During the Pennsylvania Sprint Series’ RaceSaver 305 warm ups, due to a missed setup, Waters spun out while narrowly missing another spinning car. Heat 1 saw additional unexpected track conditions, with JCW Racing starting 5th, ultimately finishing 8th. Waters reported that he expected the track to “slick off” more, however the team worked hard to make needed adjustments while searching for progression as the night wore on. The feature saw JCW Racing starting 22nd out of 23 cars, however Waters knew he had worked to do, and set out to do just that. By the end of lap 1, the driver already worked his way up to 16th, and was running in the 12th position by lap 8. Though Waters admits he made some errors on restarts that kept progress to a minimum during the feature, Jake considers the 10th place finish a very modest victory while finishing the night in the 7th position in the points standing. “We were expecting the track to be a lot more slicked off than it was when we arrived, and failed to make the correct adjustments for the heat race,” said Waters. “I have a lot of faith in what my team and the car is capable of, and knew that even being under the weather we could still accomplish what we did.” JCW Racing and driver Jake Waters would like to greatly thank fellow competitor Zach Newlin his hard work prior to Saturday night’s race, lending a hand in starting the car for motor starts and aiding in preparation of the team. Waters, and JCW Racing, would also like to congratulate friends Jeff Campbell and Kacie Myers on their recent marriage, and wish the best for Mr. and Mrs. Campbell as they start their new life together. JCW Racing’s next race is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Port Royal Speedway for Free Student Night/Youth Baseball & Softball Uniform Night. On-track action starts at 7:00 p.m., with 410 sprints, late models and 305 sprints on tap. Friends and fans of the team are encouraged to come out and help celebrate team owner and driver Jake Waters’ birthday while cheering him on as he pursues victory. After what seemed like a wild winter that finally surrendered, JCW Racing took the green flag this past Saturday at Port Royal Speedway, the team’s home track. On what proved to be cool and windy start to the 2015 racing season, the team began the night with a pill pull of 37, placing team owner and driver Jake Waters in position to start heat racing in the middle of the pack. As the 305 RaceSaver sprints took to a slick track, Waters lined up in the second heat to start 6th out of 18 cars. While running in 4th, a miscommunication on the restart after a yellow flag caused Waters to drop two spots. In all, JCW Racing finished 5th in Heat 2. Settling in for the main event among the 305’s, Waters lined up the no. 10 machine in 10th position. Jake reported the team gave him a car that felt good, one that was steady all evening. During the feature however, the car didn’t seem to handle as well as needed on restarts, ultimately resulting in lost track position. After narrowly missing a wreck early in the feature race, Waters brought the car home to a respectable 7th place finish in what turned out to be an eventful 18 lap feature. “The heat was definitely a setback, and prevented us from a better starting position,” said Waters. “The main goal of the first race is to always come away unscathed, and we did that with flying colors. I made some errors in the feature that kept us from finishing better, but altogether the car felt great. We can go in to the next race knowing what we need to do and what we can do to improve.” JCW Racing will return to action at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday, April 18, 2015 for Race to Cure Cancer Night. Action at the “Speed Palace” is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m., with 410 sprints and late model shows, in addition to the 305 RaceSaver winged sprints. “Think it. See it. Do it.” -GoPro GoPro, manufacturer of the world’s most versatile camera, will once again be ever-present on board JCW Racing’s RaceSaver winged 305 sprint car as it takes to the track in just 39 days at Port Royal Speedway April 4. “It’s great to have such a reputable company like GoPro support our team. Their cameras have allowed us to review a race from my perspective, and see things that are not obvious from behind the wheel or in the stands. It also has allowed us to better market ourselves towards our fans,” said team owner and driver Jake Waters. Partnering with the team for the past few seasons, the company has re-signed and will continue to support JCW Racing in 2015. As action heats up on the track in central Pennsylvania, so will the views. Carrying GoPro’s Hero 3, the team will be able to showcase a view to fans from the drivers’ perspective, whether in hot laps, heat races, features, or rolling the No. 10 machine in to victory lane. In addition, Waters plans to use GoPro footage from events in the upcoming season to gain valued feedback to better understand performance in pursuit of excelling in the RaceSaver Pennsylvania Sprint Series (PASS). Fans can expect to see excerpts of video from the team’s GoPro camera, showcasing action through JCW Racing’s website and Facebook page.
